What do the movements of Tai Chi and Qigong, the practice of Hatha Yoga and stillness of deep Meditation have in common? The answer is simple: They all work with the deep energy centers of the human body. The methods involved are also simple: using movement, breath and the meditative mind to activate the energy system, open blockage and circulate energy throughout the body. (professionally trained and experienced with 28 years of teaching) Class Description Tai - Qi - Gong Stretch: This stretching class is based on the Chinese style of Tai Chi. Similar to Yoga the movements are slow, relaxing and coordinated with the breath (Qigong) for increasing strength, flexibility and range of motion. The class can be practiced standing or sitting in a chair and is appropriate for everyone. The class will end with a acupressure self massage, guided breathing (Qigong) meditation and relaxation. Beginning Tai Chi for Health: Sun Style Tai Chi for Health programs designed by Dr. Paul Lam M.D. These classes are appropriate for those with no experience as well as those wanting to refresh their forms for more depth. Appropriate for everyone or those with Arthritis, Diabetes, back pain and any health concerns. These classes are excellent to help regain balance, stability and fall prevention and can be practiced standing or sitting. Tai Chi for Health - Level 2: Ongoing Tai chi classes for those that have played with Sun Style Tai Chi and programs by Dr. Paul Lam. For those that want to continue their play and progress into the depth and knowledge of Tai Chi. Includes Qigong, some basic knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine and several different Sun and Yang forms of Tai chi. Some knowledge and experience required. Tai chi for Balance and Fall Prevention: Beginning level Sun Style Tai Chi for any age wanting to improve their awareness and balance in this easy tai chi exercise class. This class will be taught at a much slower pace with more repetition in the practice and learning of the forms . Can be practiced sitting or standing. Appropriate for anyone and those with MS, Parkinson's and Cancer recovery. Yang Style Tai Chi - 24 forms: One of the most practiced forms of Tai Chi in the world. No experience required, just dedication! You need to make a commitment to this class by showing up on a regular basis in order to learn the forms. (Some knowledge of Sun Style Tai chi by Dr. Lam is helpful but not required) Tai Chi Fan form: Some knowledge of Tai chi is helpful but not required to learn this beautiful form of Tai Chi while holding and using a lovely silk fan. The appropriate fan required will be included in the class price. Class size will be limited! All classes taught by Sandi Wicher of Harmony and Health will include warm-ups and cool downs. Each class is designed to help stretch, strengthen and coordinate the mind and body in flowing movement. It is fun, easy to learn with the correct instructions and a safe effective form of exercise everyone can do. Tai Chi is the perfect stress reducer that once you learn you can play anywhere you go and see the benefits. Commit to at least 6 weeks and see the changes!!
