Indigo Moon Reiki Reiki (RAY-key) is an ancient art of healing. Reiki is a Japanese word which can be broken down into two parts, rei, “universal” and ki, “life force energy.” The word ki in Japanese is the same concept as chi in Chinese as in Tai Chi or Qi Gong. It is also the same idea as the Hindi word prana which is used in the teaching of yoga. In traditional Eastern philosophy and medicine, our bodies are filled with energy flowing in and out of specific points in the body called chakras. If we become tired, stressed, or injured, the energy does not flow through the body as it should, and we become ill. Reiki is a hands-on healing system that restores the balance of energy to the body and helps the body heal itself. Reiki is not the same as massage therapy. In a Reiki treatment, the practitioners do not rub the body with their hands; rather, clients remain fully clothed and the practitioners hold their hands at specific points on the body, rest their hands there for a few minutes to let the energy flow into that part of the body, and then move the hands to another position. A typical Reiki treatment lasts approximately one hour. I began my Reiki training in 2001 and became a Reiki Master in 2003. I have had a part-time Reiki business since then, but in the past two years I have not had much time for my Reiki practice as I was in the middle of finishing a Ph.D. in English. Since finishing the degree, I have renewed my commitment to Reiki and my healing practice. I am a registered member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals. I am thrilled to be a part of Many Waters Wellness Center. Although Reiki can be used to help the body heal from any type of physical injury or illness, I am especially interested in helping people recover from grief, divorce, or any other stressful life events. Please see my website at www.indigomoonreiki.comfor more information on Reiki and my practice. As I am teaching full time, I offer Reiki treatments evenings and weekends. Please call my business cell phone at 509-240-7064 or email me at andrewgallagher@charter.net for an appointment.
